Life has changed — now you’re figuring out who you are

Counselling in Chichester and Online to Help You Navigate Life’s Transitions

Life transitions aren’t only about obvious external changes. They can include shifts in identity, family relationships, emotional patterns, or the way you relate to others. I work with people experiencing estrangement, relationship difficulties, anger, anxiety, or feeling unsure who they are anymore.

You don’t have to go through it alone.

Hi, I’m David Houliston, a humanistic counsellor working alongside adults who feel lost, overwhelmed, or out of touch with their inner self.

Move at Your Own Pace, With Someone Who Really Listens

Footprints in the sand on a beach leading towards the horizon, with two people walking in the distance during sunset or sunrise, with clouds and calm ocean waves visible.

You can use our sessions to explore:

  • Persistent anxiety or worry

  • Feeling overwhelmed or burnt out

  • Workplace stress and pressure

  • Difficult childhood experiences or trauma

  • Autistic burnout or stress around assessment

  • Low self-worth, people-pleasing, or self-criticism

  • Feeling stuck, lost, or unsure of yourself

My approach is humanistic and person-centred, which means I meet you where you are and walk alongside you — not push, analyse, or tell you who to be.

You set the pace.
You choose what feels safe to explore.
I offer presence, steadiness, and genuine understanding.

What You Can Expect

People often come to therapy looking for:

  • Relief from constant anxiety

  • Emotional clarity

  • A calmer relationship with themselves

  • Space to process trauma safely

  • More confidence and self-trust

  • A sense of direction again

Many clients describe the experience as feeling deeply understood for the first time.

I offer in-person counselling in a quiet, comfortable space in the heart of Chichester, designed to help you feel safe and supported.
