Many of the people I work with have spent years coping, achieving, or doing what was expected of them — but now those ways of living feel heavy, empty, or somehow not true anymore. From the outside, life might look fine: work, relationships, responsibilities all managed. But inside, you might feel numb, lonely, or disconnected — from yourself or from others.
Often, the patterns that once helped you survive are now the very things that leave you wondering who you are beneath the surface. I work with adults and young people who feel stuck, anxious, low, or unsure of themselves, helping them gently explore what’s going on underneath and reconnect with who they really are.
As an ex-boarder, I also have a particular interest in supporting people who went to boarding school and now find that the strategies that once helped them get by no longer feel right or sustainable.
In our work together, I offer a steady, compassionate space to explore these questions and understand how you learnt to cope in the ways you did. We will reflect on how those early patterns continue to shape your life, relationships, and sense of self, and gradually support you in building a way of living that feels more real, connected, and alive.
My approach is humanistic, which means we focus on you, your experiences, and your feelings. I believe every person has the capacity to grow, understand themselves, and find solutions that work for their life.
In our sessions, I listen deeply, reflect what I hear, and support you in uncovering insights and making changes that feel right for you.
You guide the pace, and I create a safe, non-judgmental environment for exploration.
Your first session is a chance to get to know each other and understand what brings you to counselling. We’ll talk about your goals, what you’d like to explore, and how counselling can support you.
There’s no pressure, and everything we discuss is completely confidential.
By the end of the session, you’ll have a clear idea of the next steps and whether you feel comfortable continuing.
I offer a free 20-minute introductory call if you’re unsure whether counselling is right for you — a simple, pressure-free way to see if we’re a good fit. Email me or the button below to contact me. I will get back to you to arrange a convient time.
aHi, I'm David, a humanistic counsellor supporting adults who feel stuck, disconnected, or simply out of touch with themselves.
Together, we explore the patterns that have shaped your life, uncover what truly matters to you, and help you build a way of living that feels real, connected, and alive. You guide the pace — I provide a steady, non-judgmental space to understand, reflect, and grow.
It’s completely normal to feel a little nervous about starting counselling. The first session is a gentle way to begin — there’s no pressure to say anything before you’re ready.
Our time together is about creating a safe, private space where you can talk openly and feel heard without judgement. In this first meeting, I’ll invite you to share a little about what’s brought you to counselling and what you hope to get from it. You don’t need to have everything worked out — many people simply know that something doesn’t feel right and want some space to explore it.
I’ll also explain how counselling works, including confidentiality and what you can expect from me. We can talk about what you might find helpful, and you’re welcome to ask any questions about the process.
By the end of the session, you’ll have a clearer sense of how we might work together and whether this feels like the right fit for you. There’s no obligation to continue — it’s entirely your choice.
